Today, on International Women’s Day we are celebrating women in saiga conservation.
We are happy to support a women’s embroidery programme in Uzbekistan, which helps save saigas as well as empowering women in rural communities.
The SCA helps women in rural areas learn traditional embroidery skills and run their own collective, raising money to buy more expensive meat than saiga, such as mutton.
Through working with these women, who become Saiga Champions, we are pleased to support local projects and communities, give women new skills and save saigas.
Watch our short clip to hear first-hand from the women who take part in this programme.
