Did you know that saigas are highly adapted to the harsh winters on the Steppe?
As winter approaches the saiga’s smooth, cinnamon coat changes to a creamy-white colour and becomes much thicker, to help it survive temperatures as low as -30o.
During these extreme temperatures its strangely shaped nose really comes into its own, as the large, downward-facing nostrils warm the freezing air before it reaches its lungs.
