It’s with heavy hearts that we share the news that Yerlen Nurgaliyev, a ranger in Kazakhstan, was tragically killed by poachers while protecting saiga antelopes. Yerlen had served for 25 years in the police before taking up a job in wildlife protection and was known for his kindness and devotion to animals. His colleague Petr was also beaten badly and is still in the hospital recovering from his injuries. Rangers frequently face extremely dangerous situations protecting the species we love and care about—those wishing to make a donation in honor of Yerlen to help rangers can do so through here : http://bit.ly/2HxCxFp.
