Earlier this month we held an event at the National Press Centre in Tashkent, Uzbekistan to celebrate the success of our newest award-winning cartoon. ‘A Steppe Tale II’, which won a golden Loon award at in international film festival.
We invited children from the two art schools who participated in the cartoon’s production (Art school “The young artist”, Center “Barkamol avlod” and the Children’s school of music and art 15). We also invited their teachers, children from these schools, their parents and friends. We were also pleased to welcome the film studio which created the cartoon, several NGOs and government officials, as well as members of the press and scientists from the Academy of Science.
The 150 attendees were treated to a performance from the children of the “Yangi avlod” studio, who sang a traditional song and demonstrated some Uzbek national dances. We watched the cartoon and then held a quiz and discussion about the conservation of saiga antelopes. All the attendees loved having their faces painted in nature-related themes and then voted for their favourite painting in the exhibition of drawings which made up the cartoon.
The winners were Alina Abdirakhmanova (aged 8.) and Eva Rupel (aged 11)
