Our work

Our work at a glance

From supporting rangers and local conservation initiatives to connecting research and international expertise, SCA brings people together to protect saigas. Explore the different ways we support conservation across the species’ range and beyond.

How we work

Six strands, one goal.

Saiga conservation depends on more than any one approach. From practical protection and local partnerships to research, education, and international cooperation, these six areas work together to address the challenges facing saigas and support their future in the wild.

Education & Awareness

Through Steppe Wildlife Clubs, Saiga Day, and support for local educators, we bring saiga conservation to life for children and communities, creating opportunities to learn, participate, and celebrate the species.

Protecting Saigas on the Ground

From equipping rangers to strengthening protected areas, we provide practical support to the people protecting saigas in the wild. Working with conservation partners, we respond to changing needs on the ground and help strengthen protection across the saiga’s range.

Working with Communities

We work with people living alongside saigas, drawing on local knowledge and experience to develop practical conservation approaches. From alternative livelihoods to participatory monitoring, our community work explores ways to meet local needs while protecting saigas.
