About the programme

The Small Grants Programme funds focused pieces of work that make a clear difference to saiga conservation but fall below the threshold of most funders.

Grants are deliberately simple to apply for and quick to decide, so that time-sensitive fieldwork is not lost to a long funding cycle.

Eligibility requirements

  • Open to individuals, organisations, and institutions proposing projects that contribute to saiga conservation. You do not need to be affiliated with SCA to apply.
  • Applicants must be based in Kazakhstan, Mongolia, or Uzbekistan, or in a saiga consumer country, including China, Singapore, Vietnam, and Malaysia. SCA is currently unable to fund programmes implemented in, or individuals based in, the Russian Federation.

What the award provides

  • Up to £5,000 in funding for an individual project.
  • A wide range of project activities, including field conservation, research, community engagement, education, communications, and creative approaches.
  • Access to SCA’s network, including guidance and expertise from Steering Committee members as projects develop.
