Alty Sai: Six Steps to Preserve Saigas - A. Timoshenko

Alexey Timoshenko developed the “Alty Sai - Six Steps to Preserve Saigas” project in Kazakhstan, working to conserve Betpak-Dala saiga habitat through an ecological-park approach. The project combined habitat-focused conservation with activities intended to engage local people and introduce visitors and schoolchildren to the value of the steppe landscape.

Activities at Alty Sai included engagement with local schoolchildren, including a visit by members of the “Saiga Friends” eco-club. The project tested a new way of linking habitat conservation, education, and local participation in the Betpak-Dala landscape.
