Local-Knowledge Monitoring in the North-West Pre-Caspian - Y. Arylov
Yuri Arylov developed monitoring of saiga populations in the north-western Pre-Caspian using observations and knowledge from local people. The project explored how community knowledge could complement formal monitoring in a landscape where obtaining reliable information on saiga distribution is difficult.
The project involved local people in generating information about saiga presence and distribution, strengthening the evidence available to conservationists and demonstrating a participatory approach to monitoring.
