North-West Caspian Saiga Status - V. Kalmykov

Small Grants Project Research & Monitoring Russia 2013 ← Back to archive

Vladimir Kalmykov researched the current status of the saiga population spending much of its time in the north-western Caspian region of Russia. The project focused on improving knowledge of a population moving across a broad steppe landscape where effective conservation depends on up-to-date field information.

The work added monitoring information on the status of saigas and their use of the north-western Caspian landscape, strengthening the local evidence base for protection and management.
