Ranger Capacity in North-West Uzbekistan - M. Kosbergenov

Small Grants Project Protecting Saigas on the Ground Uzbekistan 2008 ← Back to archive

Makset Kosbergenov worked to strengthen the capacity of the Special Amu Darya inspectors carrying out anti-poaching work in north-western Uzbekistan. The project responded to the need for stronger frontline protection in an area where illegal hunting was recognised as a major obstacle to the recovery of the Ustyurt saiga population.

The grant provided additional support for the people responsible for detecting and responding to wildlife crime in the region, strengthening practical capacity for saiga protection.
