Student Research Project Protecting Saigas on the Ground · Research & Monitoring · Working with Communities Uzbekistan 2015 ← Back to archive

Sarekha Dhanda investigated stakeholder perceptions of the re-designated Saigachy Reserve in Uzbekistan and explored approaches that could strengthen its conservation impact. The research considered how different groups understood the reserve, its purpose, and the challenges involved in making protection effective in practice.

The study added evidence on the social and institutional context surrounding Saigachy Reserve and highlighted factors that could influence how the protected area was understood and supported. This provided useful insight for improving engagement, management, and the reserve's role in saiga conservation.
