Winter Ecology of the Betpak-Dala Saiga Population - R. Esenamanov

Small Grants Project Research & Monitoring Kazakhstan 2007 ← Back to archive

R. Esenamanov studied the Betpak-Dala saiga population in Kazakhstan during winter, focusing on its distribution, sex and age structure, and the factors that could limit the population. The work addressed a period of the annual cycle when weather, forage and other pressures can strongly shape where saigas occur and how vulnerable they are.

The work added field information on the status and winter ecology of the Betpak-Dala population, strengthening the evidence available for future monitoring and conservation planning.
